Dinah Rau
Real art, for real people;
from the heart.
Please Say Hello
Artist’s Statement
I have always loved beauty, color, and those captivating moments where you see something that changes your perspective. Where undeniably, you just had an experience that shifts your heart. I want my art to have this awakening effect.
With the use of color and aesthetics, I am listening to what I believe God is saying about the times we live in and how he feels about us, his people. Whether it’s the past, present, or future; it’s always about love, healing, and wholeness. With each brushstroke, God reveals His nature to me as I watch His message unfold in front of me.
My desire is to create art in such a way, that when people look at it – they connect. They have a moment where they think “I swear I have seen this before…was it in a dream?” Or “Why do I get goosebumps when I look at this?” I want my art to always point back to this truth; you are completely loved by the Maker of the Universe and He always looking for opportunities to engage with you.
My Bio
Born and raised in the Seattle area, Dinah Rau is primarily a self-taught artist with a passion for expressing God’s love through color on canvas.
In an attempt to emotionally escape an abusive and impoverished childhood, Dinah would spend many hours drawing, painting, and creating art. At the age of 15, God placed her in a Christian home where she received Christ. She continued to draw and paint with the encouragement of friends and family. This was the beginning of a journey to recover from childhood wounds. Her desire to bring healing through her expressionism has led Dinah to create paintings in acrylic and mixed media emphasizing color, aesthetics, and movement.
With prayerful consideration and listening for what God wants to say, Dinah not only applies her brush but also her heart to the canvas. She invites the viewer to look deeper into one’s self and ask the bigger questions of life. Her work appears like a dream fused with reality, reflecting the inner truth – that we are all created from and for love.
